Ok… If I’m perfectly honest, I just recovered this draft I wrote up years ago just after leaving my time working at the happiest place on Earth…Walt Disney World! I am aware that a handful of these tips probably no longer apply due to Covid changes throughout the parks and times changing, however if you are planning on visiting Walt…

…but unfortunately for Belle, living in the time she did, there was not as much access to easy transport methods as there are now, for her to explore further afield in France! (Don’t forget to check out my travel vlog video at the bottom!) I left London as the summer began to fade away and the rains came rolling in.…

I wrote this recount of a trip to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, about 2 years ago on a bus throughout Europe, however thought maybe I should share it on here now 🙂 Hope you enjoy reading! Winding our way through stretches of the scenic French countryside and finally entering the Swiss Alpine region, I was rendered speechless by our first sights; the…

Let’s Eat Healthy!… And have fun with it!

    melissaclairestevens / May 30, 2018

This is for a uni assignment 😂😂 Eating healthy can be such a chore sometimes, believe me I’m a big culprit! I mean who can blame us when there is so much packaged and processed food out there around us, widely advertised and glamorized, notably cheaper than healthier options and often just simply convenient?! Buuuut eating healthy and looking after…

A cereal cafe? A cafe dedicated to CEREAL? Yes you read right, and what better place than Shoreditch in London! Entering into this quirky establishment in East London, all kinds of cereal boxes from special K to Magic Charms are adorning the walls, to instantly bring back the memorabilia and transport even the biggest of kids (AKA me) back to…

Why Should I Shop In A Charity Shop?

    melissaclairestevens / April 21, 2018

“Charity shop”, “Op shop”, “Thrift store”… These terms may spark a sense of distaste and uncertainty in the minds of many people. They associate it with old, smelly, broken, trash etc., however this is certainly not always the case if you enter with an open mind and and a sense of creativity!   Not only can you often come across…

Hurry Up Spring; You’re Late, For a Very Important Date!

    melissaclairestevens / March 13, 2018

After a bit of an odd start to “spring” in England this year, with the       temperatures dipping to a sudden -10 or thereabouts on the first day of March, and snow filling the streets, it’s thankfully starting to warm up at last! And what better way to welcome spring than by visiting Kew Gardens for the last…

Today officially marks a full year of travelling for me! *Disclaimer: I firstly would like to point out that I am by no means an expert in this field; this is just my opinion and view on the matter. As we made our way through the never-ending, overgrown paths of the island, without the faintest idea of where we were headed, all I was aware of was the searing pain…

Why I’m not “lucky” that I get to travel

    melissaclairestevens / January 30, 2018

Define “lucky”: “having good things happen to you by chance” – Cambridge dictionary I hear so many people constantly telling me, or others in the same situation as me, that we are “so lucky” that we get travel so much and so often. At the time I have often just brushed it off and not thought too much into it,…

It’s the small moments just as much as the excit It’s the small moments just as much as the exciting moments…

Finding gratitude in everyday 🙏🏽

From time spent living in solitude in the Portuguese mountains 🌿
Lessons from a year of celibacy… ✺ Prioritise Lessons from a year of celibacy…

✺ Prioritise your own peace over someone who doesn’t prioritise you

✺ You can’t love anyone else if you don’t fully love yourself. Learn to love yourself and be content in your own solitude

✺ The universe is going to throw you challenges in celibacy; sometimes even the perfect-seeming person who ticks every single one of your boxes. This is a test, as this is a time you have dedicated to focusing on yourself 🙏🏽

✺ Know your worth. Never settle for anything less than what you deserve. Be patient and trust that it will happen at the right time

✺ Use your time and energy wisely; to pour into your creations and what really matters

✺ What is meant for me will never pass me

✺ Sisterhood, feminine energy and connection is so important. Nourish these friendships

✺ You learn a lot about peoples intentions and weed out the wrong ones when you tell people you are celibate ✌🏽

✺ Not everyone deserves access to you and your vulnerability

✺ The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship you will ever have

✺ At the end of the day, what is it that YOU want?

To anyone considering (or even if you’d never considered it), I would highly recommend dedicating time to focus on yourself, your goals and creative outlets, and becoming very aware and intentional of who is worthy of your energy 🙏🏽

Also listen to @iamsahararose podcast on celibacy! It will definitely give you a new perspective 🤍
Moments that felt like magic ✨ I go through mom Moments that felt like magic ✨

I go through moments where I feel like life is so short and there are so many things I would love to experience, therefore I need to constantly be doing something or rushing through life to fit it all in.

In moments like this I need to remind myself to slow down and reflect on all that I HAVE done so far, and how grateful I am for having had these opportunities 🙏🏽

✧ The most beautiful yoga shala in Amed, Bali

✧ Portuguese rivers to myself in the summer

✧ The power felt at the burn at Blazing Swan festival 🔥

✧ Living island life with my soul sisters 🫶🏽

✧ The red dunes of the Ningaloo

✧ Jungle sunsets

✧ Fairytale waterfalls

✧ Sunrise temple moments in Bangkok

✧ Private Hot Air balloon over Laos we definitely weren’t expecting!

✧ 2 days on the Laos slow boat watching the world go by

✧ Rafting by beautiful elephants in their own habitat

✧ Pink beaches of the Komodo Islands

✧ Floating bungalows in the jungles of Thailand

✧ Hidden caves to ourselves

✧ Wrong turns leading to beautiful sunsets with the island cows

✧ Freediving adventures and swimming with whales

✧ Waterfalls that prove the sheer power of nature ✨

And so many more…

Beyond grateful for what I have experienced, but like everyone, life is about balance, we all experience plenty of lows as well 🙏🏽

Day in the life of a volunteer at a retreat centre Day in the life of a volunteer at a retreat centre in the Portuguese mountains 🫶🏽🌿

This was such an incredible experience for me; the opportunity to live in Portugal, on sacred land where the 2 rivers meet in the mountains, spending my days exploring and connecting deeply to the earth, creating beautiful friendships, learning so much about the retreat business and of course doing my daily duties to help out each day!

In exchange for a few hours of work each day, I received free accomodation, meals/groceries, occasional access to the activities and yoga classes and of course this incredible location ✨

I found this through @worldpackers which has so many worldwide opportunities to choose from!

My code “MELISSACLAIRE” gives you a nice little discount to get started ☺️

…all at the same time, whilst in my 20’s and t …all at the same time, whilst in my 20’s and that’s only the half of it 😂

Anyone else just wish we knew we had multiple lifetimes that we could fulfil living all of these types of lives in?

As much as I enjoy traveling, exploring new places, meeting new people, living out of a backpack and roughing it, sometimes I do crave stability and being able to have that settled life somewhere and just live a simple, slow life. I definitely experience a bit of both along the way but it’s an interesting thought to think about …

If there’s one question I get asked almost on a If there’s one question I get asked almost on a daily basis, it’s “how do you travel so much by yourself?”

And there are so many ways I can answer this 😂

Yes I love socialising, being around people and traveling with friends and loved ones, but I also love the independence of discovering places alone, being able to make my own decisions and not wait around for people or rely on others.

I’ve learnt to be content with myself and enjoy my own company;

to really lean into my intuition and solve problems by myself, often in a foreign country where I don’t speak the language or understand yet how things work.

It’s a challenge, but so rewarding and teaches me so many things along the way.

And whilst people believe that solo travel must be so lonely, I promise you that not long into it you’ll be begging for a break 😂

The best ways to meet people in my case have been through hostels, acro yoga jams, talking to people catching the same bus/train etc, take a class/workshop, WhatsApp groups…

𖤓 What other questions do you have around solo travel?

Of course that was the day’s vibe inspiration ✌🏽
